This delightfully moist fig cake combines two healthy, all natural ingredients into one spectacular handmade treat! Whole roasted almonds are packed in dried Calabacita figs, which are blended with cinnamon and anise. This is the classic pairing for aged Spanish cheese - the sweet, fruity fig cake balancing the rich, salty flavor of aged cheese beautifully.
When we first bit into this cake, we loved its remarkable flavor - a perfect balance of figs with whole almonds, cinnamon and anise. We work with a family company in Murcia, along the Mediterranean coast, a region dotted with almond and fig groves.
In the hot, dry countryside of Murcia, fig trees produce particularly sweet, plump figs. The Calabacita variety is no exception, and its tiny fruit are prized around the world. It’s no wonder that when these sweet figs are mixed with locally grown roasted almonds, the result is out of this world. We hope you’ll agree!
This almond-studded cake makes a lovely not-too-sweet dessert. It’s also a great accompaniment with cheese, especially alongside a sharp Manchego or Ibérico cheese.
