From high in the Andes comes this delicious salt flavored with rare herbs. The mineral rich pink salt is harvested by hand in small pools 11,000 feet in the mountains, then blended with indigenous herbs, including muña, chincho and hierba buena. This delicious seasoning is ideal for grilled fish, roasted chicken, ceviche, soups and pachamanca.
Nina Muru is a project to feature the finest of Peru's rich culinary culture. Pink salt from the Andes is very pure and contains beneficial minerals including calcium, magnesium and potassium. It dissolves easily and is a great salt for seasoning meats and in marinades.
Special herbs are dried and blended with the salt to add an aromatic and refreshing flavor. First is muña, an aromatic herb also known as Andean mint that grows wild above 10,000 feet. Next is chincho, which grows along the coast and has been used in traditional dishes since Incan times. Finally there is hierba buena, the "good herb," which grows across Peru and has a minty flavor.
