- Deep citrus and orchard fruit flavors
- Long and silky finish
- 100% barrel fermented
89 Points - [Refers to 2007 vintage] - "The 2007 Blanco is a blend of 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia. It was barrel-fermented in new French oak where it remained for four months on its lees. Medium straw-colored, it offers up a perfume of mineral, pear, and white peach. On the palate it reveals moderate concentration and some elegance. Drink this ripe, tasty effort over the next 1-2 years. Score: 89. —Jay Miller, Wine Advocate, August 2008. (more info)

Smoky orange and white peach aromas are brightened by dusty minerals and baking spices. Fleshy and focused, offering moderately deep citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a late boost of tangy minerals. Gained weight with air while maintaining vibrancy, finishing long and silky, with notes of ripe pear and orange." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Mr. Isaac Muga opened his first cellar in 1932. At his death in 1969, his sons Manuel and Isaac took over the management and winemaking of the winery. This is the only winery left in Spain that uses only oak throughout the process of its production. The Muga family continues to maintain their own cooperage and directly imports American and French oak in order to custom make their barrels. The family estate consists of 96 acres (40 hectares) and supplements their production with grapes from 50 different small growers; some of them have less than one hectare, from 40-50 year-old vines. The majority of grapes are from Rioja Alta. (close) |
