96 Points - "The 2007 Malleolus de Valderramiro is a glass-coating opaque purple. It showcases a superb, sexy bouquet of sandalwood, graphite, Asian spices, incense, black cherry, and blackberry that leaps from the glass. Opulent, already complex with more to come, and super-long in the finish, it offers a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2037." -The Wine Advocate
COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo
TASTING NOTES:
94 Points - "Dark and alluring, this red is rich and polished, with layers of plum, blackberry, fig, chocolate, toast and cola notes over firm but well-integrated tannins, smooth on the palate and fresh on the finish. A modern style, with tenderness and depth. Drink now through 2018." -The Wine Spectator
93 Points - "Inky purple. A drop-dead, seductive bouquet exudes raspberry, cherry liqueur, potpourri and vanillin oak spice, with a strong mineral undercurrent. Dense and tightly wound, offering broad dark fruit flavors that show a porty element but betray no heat. Shows a decadent character while retaining vivacity, finishing with outstanding length and lingering notes of cassis and licorice. This really deserves some patience. The vines were reportedly planted in 1926." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
[Refers to the 2005 vintage] - 97 Points - "Inky purple-hued, the wine has stunning aromatics, kinky and complex. Notes of mineral/slate, pencil lead, espresso, wild blueberry and blackberry lead to a layered, opulent wine with superb concentration and great length. Give it 6-8 years of additional cellaring and drink it through 2030." -Wine Advocate, Issue #175, February 2008.
