97 points - Wine Advocate on the 2005 vintage - "Inky purple-hued, the wine has stunning aromatics, kinky and complex. Notes of mineral/slate, pencil lead, espresso, wild blueberry and blackberry lead to a layered, opulent wine with superb concentration and great length. Give it 6-8 years of additional cellaring and drink it through 2030." -Wine Advocate, Issue #175, February 2008.
[Refers to 2004 vintage] - "This big red is like a bass drum, dark and sonorous, with deep notes of coffee, mineral, blackberry and licorice. Mouth coating, with a powerful structure, but balanced. There's something savage about the flavors, yet this remains harmonious and alluring." —Wine Spectator, Thomas Matthews, November 15, 2007.
