87 Points - "Petrol and crisp sea air control the nose, while the palate has saline, lemon and bitter almond flavors. Chalky and tight on the finish, with some mushroom and vanilla nuance." -Wine Enthusiast
"Elegant yet persistent, this outstanding Sherry combines a broad structure with subtle and lingering mineral, flint, petrol and vanilla flavors. Quality this high at a price this low is increasingly rare, enjoy." -Wine Spectator
"Quite sharp, boasting iodine, apple, straw and lemon notes, with a chalky texture and long, lanolin aftertaste. Has character and flavor. Drink now." -Bruce Sanderson
Osborne Manzanilla is the lightest of the Osborne sherries. It is young and very delicate wine with notes of citrus, roasted nuts and a hint of brine. Serve it chilled with hors d'oeuvres or tapas, spicy chicken or shellfish.
Manzanilla sherries are usually aged in bodegas near the sea and they take on a sharp and salty tang. They are pale in color and fairly dry in taste.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Made by Osborne, a centuries old family business famous the world over for their sherry. Osborne's wineries in Puerto de Santa Maria were designed specifically for sherry production. The buildings face South and Southwest to catch the sea breeze. They also feature high ceilings to allow the fresh sea air to circulate. Both of these factors are essential for making a perfect wine.
Osborne's sherry casks are made of American oak that allows the wine to "breathe" through the wood's pores. Casks are never filled to the brim and the top is never fully sealed. The air that seeps in guarantees some oxidation - a key to making sherry wine.
Over the generations, the Osborne family has managed a company devoted to making and aging sherry wine that is appreciated around the world. Osborne honors the long family tradition of quality sherry production while being enthusiastic about growth and innovation.
