- Deeply colored and full flavored
- Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes
- Enjoy over the next 8-10 years
- A great value!
91 Points - "Glass-staining ruby. Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense, rose pastille and Asian spices. Sappy, penetrating black raspberry and blueberry flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with smoky mineral and star anise nuances gaining strength with air. Closes sweet and very long, with lingering spiciness and gentle tannins. Importer Jorge Ordonez told me that lots of high-end oak is used here, from the likes of Taransaud, Darnajou and Dominique Laurent, for example." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo
90 Points - "The 2010 Volver (100% Tempranillo) is a single vineyard, outstanding effort that was aged in French oak for 14 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, pepper, underbrush and licorice. This well-made, medium to full-bodied effort should drink well for 4-5 years. Bodega Volver, a joint project between Rafael Canizares and Jorge Ordonez, produces wines from three appellations, La Mancha, Alicante and Jumilla." -The Wine Advocate
90 Points - [Refers to previous vintage] - "A glass-coating opaque purple color, it showcases aromas of pain grille, earth notes, spice box, and fragrant blue and black fruits. Supple-textured, super-ripe and concentrated, on the palate it is mouth-filling, savory and structured enough to evolve for 2-3 years. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years. It is a great value that over-delivers in a big way." -The Wine Advocate
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Bodegas Volver is a partnership between enologist Rafael Canizares and importer Jorge Ordonez. The 2007 Volver is made with Tempranillo grapes from a single 72 acre vineyard planted in 1967.
The Tempranillo grapes from this vineyard have produced a full flavored wine with hints of ripe plum and cherry as well as sweet spices. Volver complements a variety of meat dishes and can age in the bottle for many years.
Volver was barrel-fermented and aged for 14 months in French oak.
