- Made with 100% Verdejo grapes
- Intensely perfumed
- Energetic citrus flavor
91 Points - [Refers to 2007 vintage] - "Pale yellow-gold. Intensely perfumed, complex nose displays fresh lime, grapefruit, anise, herbs and white flowers. Nervy citrus flavors are complicated by thyme, licorice and white pepper, with bracing minerality adding verve. The finish clings tenaciously, repeating the mineral and floral notes. Weightless, precise and impressively persistent, with a filigree quality that is really alluring." - Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar (more info)

Strikingly pungent nose shows an energetic citrus and herb personality underscored by zesty minerality; this smells like top-notch Sancerre. Crisp lemon-lime and quince flavors are finely etched and uncommonly concentrated, with a bitter citrus pith quality extending through the finish. Very pretty wine." -Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar, July 2007. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Angel Rodríguez, the 94 year-old winemaker of this Verdejo, was honored by King Juan Carlos for his efforts of saving the Verdejo vines which grow in his 17th Century, pre-phylloxera vineyard, which is less than an acre. Viscous with a powerful finish, this wine maintains a delicate floral nose, making this a Spanish wine that is dear to our hearts. Less than 2,000 cases made. (close) |
