- Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes
- Good balance and medium length
- Excellent concentration
- A great value!
90 Points [Refers to 2010 vintage] - "Deep ruby. A pungent, perfumed bouquet evokes dark berries, violets and woodsmoke, along with star anise and mocha. Ripe and fleshy but lithe, offering sweet cherry and blackberry flavors and supple texture. Shows very good energy and focus on a finish that leaves floral and spice notes behind. As usual, this was one of the best value red wines I tasted this year, from anywhere." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo
[Refers to 2010 vintage] - 87 Points - "As in past vintages, my favorite Dominio de Eguren red is the 2010 Codice Tinto. From vineyards located in Manchuela, this 100% Tempranillo spent six months in tank followed by six months in a combination of French and American oak. It exhibits good purity, lots of black cherry and black currant fruit, medium body, an attractive texture and a natural feel. Consume it over the next 1-2 years. This estate has been one of Jorge Ordonez’s “best value” wineries for many years." -The Wine Advocate
[Refers to 2009 vintage] - 90 Points - "Vivid purple. Aromas of cassis, cherry, licorice and mocha. Dense, alluringly sweet and juicy, with excellent concentration to its chewy dark berry and bitter chocolate flavors. Stays sweet through the persistent finish, which features silky, fine-grained tannins and lingering spiciness. This wine always delivers serious value." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
[Refers to 2009 vintage] - 88 Points - "The 2009 Codice Tinto is exceptional in the terrific 2009 vintage. It is 100% Tempranillo planted at 2700 feet and aged for 6 months in tank followed by 6 months in French and American barriques. Scents of Asian spices, incense, violets, mineral, and black fruits jump from the glass of this dense, layered, value-priced offering. It over-delivers in a big way and should drink well for another 4 years." -The Wine Advocate
