- 100% Tempranillo
- Fruity and ripe
- Makes a fantastic base for Sangria
- An excellent value!
89 Points - [Refers to 2009 vintage] - "One of the best deals in Spanish red wine you’re likely to find. Protocolo has always delivered value but this vintage sets a new high standard for $7 Tempranillo. It’s deep, ripe and minty on the nose, with berry power foretelling a pure, lush palate that’s packed with berry flavors and light herbal shadings. Impressive and super tasty, especially given the price. #2 in Wine Enthusiasts Top 100 Best Buys of 2011." -Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, November 01, 2011.
COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo
88 Points - [Refers to previous vintage] - "Pungent aromas of redcurrant, cherry pit and dried flowers, with hints of vanilla and cola. Shows very impressive complexity for the price, offering sweet red and dark fruit flavors and a hint of musky herbs. The spicy finish repeats the cherry note and lingers nicely. There are loads of Riojas out there selling for three times as much that don't match this wine for sheer fruit or complexity." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
86 Points - [Refers to previous vintage] - "The 2008 Protocolo Tinto is 100% Tempranillo aged for 3 months in seasoned American oak. Purple-colored, it displays a nose reminiscent of Beaujolais. Fruity and fresh on the palate, the finish has no hard edges. Drink it over the next 2 years." -The Wine Advocate, April 27, 2010.

"This pairs well with red meat or chicken. I really enjoyed it. I joined a wine club but I think I'll buy my wine from La Tienda from now on."
