We believe this is the best presentation of Spanish food and culture on television. It is more than a crowd-pleasing cooking show, largely produced for its entertainment value. It is an opportunity for warm and engaging chef José Andrés, to show you all his favorite byways of his beloved Spain. He invites you along to meet his favorite chefs and their restaurants, as well as introducing you to bodegas and shops throughout Spain. His approach is informal and unpretentious. He wants you to learn to love Spain and her cuisine as much as he does.
With this in mind, he then brings you from the beautifully photographed byways of Spain to his home in Bethesda Maryland, where he prepares his recipes for you in a normal, if well equipped, kitchen. His approach is clear, straightforward and easy to follow. He uses products found here in the United States – many of them from La Tienda.
There are thirteen individual episodes. In each one he focuses on another of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain, including Galicia, Andalucía, the Basque Country, Barcelona and Madrid. It will make you want to fly over there and visit his old haunts. This two DVD set is an authentic presentation of the traditions and culture that gave birth to Spain's uniquely healthy cuisine.
