Steaming plates of tender pulpo sprinkled with smoked paprika and sea salt are a classic Galician delicacy. They even have whole restaurants, called pulperias, that serve nothing but carefully prepared octopus. And they invariably present the pulpo to you on a rustic wood plate like this.

Sanded, but unfinished, this wood plate is a great way to serve the traditional seafood, cheeses and sausages of Spain. You may cure it with pure olive oil before its first use if you prefer.
