Their 6-inch diameter size and 2-cup depth makes them ideal for hot soup, mixed salad, pudding, a half a grapefruit, or even a bowl of cereal or fresh fruit. A setting of four bowls filled with chilled gazpacho or salmorejo is especially inviting. The applications are myriad.

The village of Puente del Arzobispo is renowned for its quality ceramics, so we asked an artist there to design a set of deep bowls as part of a blue collection of Puente pieces. We wanted them to both be appealing in the contemporary American home, yet retain the rich tradition of this famous center.

Inspired by the classic multicolored palate that was typical of Moorish Spain, the artist achieved simplicity by selecting a simple blue design that enhances a classic white background of the bowl. Unlike our traditional multicolored Puente bowls, the design is same on each piece. The clay and lead free glaze are high fired, making them dishwasher safe.  (more info)
