LaTienda.com Now Delivers a Taste of Spain to Europe and UK

Williamsburg, VA (Vocus/PRWEB) November 18, 2009 -- LaTienda.com, the leading online supplier of imported Spanish foods in the USA, has launched a new website enabling delivery of fine Spanish food and hand-painted ceramics throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. La Tienda specializes in small, family-owned artisanal producers in the Spanish peninsula and will ship products directly from its warehouse in Alicante, Spain.

“After serving the USA market for over 12 years, we are excited to expand our delivery to the European Union and the UK. We will bring the same commitment to artisan quality products and excellent customer service that has made us a leader in the USA,” says Tim Harris, who co-owns and manages the Virginia-based company with his brother, Jonathan, and their father, Don, a retired U.S. Navy Chaplain. According to Don Harris, the family fell in love with Spanish culture and cuisine while living in a neighborhood outside the Base Naval de Rota and founded the business in 1996 in order to share with their neighbors the “grace, warmth and traditions which have brought so much to our lives, as a family.”

Today, the rapidly expanding La Tienda hopes to provide foodies and “Spainophiles” in Europe and the UK with authentic flavors of Spain that will enrich their lives and help Spanish communities stay connected to the land and their traditions.

“We personally select iconic products from the 17 autonomous regions of Spain. Our coverage is comprehensive and complete (over 800 products), as we offer the largest online selection of authentic Spanish products in the world,” says Owner/Founder Don Harris, who was honored last month in Washington, D.C., with the “Friend of Spain” award by the Society of Spain, in recognition for his “special commitment to promoting Spanish culture in the United States.”

“We prefer to distribute goods from other small, family-run businesses,” adds Co-Owner Jonathan Harris. “They take great pride in their work and don’t cut corners. Each product tells a story and preserves a tradition which we can share with our customers while providing income to local communities in Spain.”

La Tienda’s online catalogue includes a wide variety of Spanish foods, including specialty meats such as Iberico and Serrano Ham. It also provides equipment and ingredient kits for making traditional tapas and paella, as well an assortment of olive oils and hand-crafted gifts.

Secure payment services, in euros, dollars and pounds, are provided through the Spanish bank La Caixa S.L. and PayPal, which allow either credit card or bank transfers. All orders are shipped within one business day via NACEX and delivery usually takes one to two days. Perishable items like cheeses, ham and chocolates are shipped in insulated shipping containers with ice packs.
