For the Spaniard, '1880' is the gold standard of turrón - against which all others in the market are compared. Made following an artisanal process in Jijona, Alicante, Spain.
Alicante: Toasted almonds (67%), honey (15%), sugar, glucose syrup, egg white and wafers (potato starch, emulsifier (sunflower lecithin)). Produced in a company that uses other tree nuts and soy. Jijona: Toasted almonds (70%), honey (15%), sugar, glucose syrup, egg white and emulgent (mono and diglycerides of fatty acids). Produced in a company that uses other tree nuts and soy.

This is the candy taste from my childhood Christmases; my mother (from Alicante, Espana) would somehow get this Spanish candy wherever we were in the world.
