All natural tinta de calamar is essential for the famous Spanish dish 'Arroz Negro' or black rice. Arroz negro is a striking dish cooked in a paella pan. The full, rich flavor of the final result comes from real squid ink, which has a surprisingly mild flavor (not fishy).
Our 'tinta de calamar' is harvested from freshly caught cuttlefish from the Basque country, and the ink is preserved simply with sea salt - no artificial preservatives are needed. The squid ink is shelf stable and can be stored for up to 4 years.
Cuttlefish, or sepia, is a close cousin to the conventional squid, and its ink is the best for cooking. It is richer and has almost no fishy flavors in comparison.
This squid ink is shelf stable until opened, and then should be used within a week or two.
Ingredients
cuttlefish ink, water, sea salt and cellulose gum (a thickener). Gluten Free.
