Tortillitas de Camarones - Crispy Shrimp Pancakes (2 Packages)

Huelva is famous for its seafood, and a local favorite are tortillitas de camarones, literally meaning 'shrimp pancakes.' These crunchy, flavorful tapas are served at tapas bars around the region, perfect with a cool beer or glass of dry sherry.

Our supplier makes these by hand. Delicate brine shrimp are harvested in the local waters. The tiny whole unpeeled shrimp are then stirred into a light batter made of wheat and garbanzo flour, onions and parsley. The batter is then quickly cooked in olive oil. The crispy tortillitas are then flash frozen, ready for the last few minutes of cooking.

To bake, preheat oven to 400° F and cook for 8-9 minutes. To fry, simply heat oil in a pan until sizzling hot, then add the tortillitas and cook until golden brown. In just a few minutes you will be enjoying a great tapa nearly impossible to find outside of southern Spain!
