These chipirones are fresh and delicate, with a rich dark sauce. The secret is in the preparation. Tender baby squid are sautéed by hand until they are on the verge of perfection, then immediately packaged and deep frozen. They are kept at very low temperatures until you are ready to prepare them for your family and friends. Within minutes, you are serving a special delicacy usually only found in Spain.

Chipirones en su Tinta are served in a vegetable sauce seasoned by the squid's own ink. It is a mild, rich sauce and a favorite across Spain. Serve with bread as a tapa, or over rice as a main course.

"I mwas very surprised at how good they were. I grew up in a Basque household, and we had "calamares" at least once a month. The sauce was a bit runny (maybe my grandmother Pilar liked it "mas espesa"), and adding a bit of sea salt made it better. However, the squid were really perfect, tender and succulent, and you could not tell it was a commercial product. "

I would suggest to accompany them with rice (just prepare white rice, basmati, jasmati...and put it together with the sauce). Absolutely delicious and healthy. I felt like I was eating in Spain. For first time buyers...thaw the package the day before, keep in the refrigerator until use and heat in the microwave. Then, add the white rice to the dish and you will eat better than in many restaurants!"
