This tomate frito is a beautifully natural homemade product. It is intended to be neither elegant, nor commercial – just simply a product they proudly serve to their own families.
It is made by Despensa la Nuestra (Our Pantry), a small company located in Cordoba. A group of women founded Despensa la Nuestra when the sugar beet factory in their town closed and many were put out of work.
Their goal is to create jobs in town, while preparing traditional, easy to prepare Spanish food, such as they have made at home all their lives. In this way, the company hopes to assist other Spanish women working outside their homes.
With the availability of traditional products prepared at of Despensa la Nuestra, women are able to hold down a job and serve their families quality Spanish dishes at home without sacrificing their valuable free time.
Every workday, many mothers working at Despensa la Nuestra begin work before dawn so that they are finished in time to greet their children returning from school.
Despensa products are carefully and thoughtfully produced to taste as close to homemade as you will find without having prepared the food yourself. Despensa uses only top quality produce from their own farm and never adds any coloring or preservatives to their products.
