Mojo Picon Suave
Delightful Red Sauce from the Canary Islands

$12.50  7 oz/ 200 g   / SC-13

Quantity:

Mojo Picón Suave, is also called Red Mojo or Mojo Bravo. This delicious red sauce from the Canary islands is called 'suave.' but don't think for an instant that it is bland.

It is full of flavors popular across Spain: garlic, bell peppers, olive oil, vinegar, cumin and salt. The red 'picona' peppers give the Mojo Picón its characteristic red color. It gives a lift to bland dishes.

Mojo is the essence of the cuisine of the Canarias. It accompanies a broad variety of Canary Island dishes and was probably introduced to the Islands by Portuguese travelers, whose ships would stop by this island off the coast of Africa before heading for the New World.  (more info)

Mojo Picón goes with just about everything. Try it with "patatas arrugadas" -small boiled potatoes with salt and lemon) for a taste of the Canary Islands. It keeps well in the refrigerator, and is even better after a day or two. Serve at room temperature.
