Carbonell Pure is the oil found in grocery stores and households everywhere. This tin of Carbonell Pure Olive Oil is meant as an economical oil for general frying -- in the same way that many North Americans use corn or canola oil. Because it is not extra virgin, Carbonell Pure Olive Oil is best reserved for cooking. Use one of our many fruity flavorful extra virgin olive oils to garnish crisp garden greens. The difference between the two grades of oil is that pure olive oil is made from olives that do not meet as high a standard as extra virgin -- perhaps some of the olives were harvested from the ground under the tree, or the olives were not processed as promptly. Oil from this grade of olives is refined to remove all impurities. The result is a neutral flavor, much like pure distilled water. In the final stage, Carbonell adds a portion of extra virgin olive oil to restore some of the distinctive olive flavor.
