- Black empeltre olive pate
- Arbequina olive pate
- 100% natural, nothing artificial
One of our favorite ways to enjoy the distinct flavors of Spanish olives is with these patés. They are from two of Spain's more distinct olives, and they are perfect for entertaining or as a quiet snack at home. Spread on crackers or bread, or create your own recipe as shown below. Our black olive paté is produced from the finest selection of black olives, known as Empeltre, from the Alcañiz area of Aragon in northern Spain.
To achieve its exquisite taste (which is far different than the bland black olives of California) these olives are placed in a brine solution in subterranean containers. This process neutralizes the acidity of the olives and deepens their natural flavor.
The second delicious puree is made of flavorful Arbequina olives from Catalunya. These have a somewhat nutty sweet flavor and they are mixed with olive oil, salt and herbs.
These truly unique pâtés are 100% natural with no artificial additives or colorants to compete with their subtle natural flavor.

Ellen Russell, one of our LaTienda community members, sent in the following recipe, a recipe that is a favorite with her friends:
Black Olive Dip-
1 c sour cream
1/2 c real mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip)
2 T black olive paste
Mix together until smooth. Refrigerate about an hour, if you can wait, then serve with crackers, chips, celery, or my preferred choice, fresh, soft pita. Add additional black olive paste for a more intense flavor. (close)
