High quality sweet, ripe pears are caramelized with premium Chilean Merlot wine to make this pear and Merlot jam from Chile. Gently sweet in flavor, pear jam is perfect for appetizers, sauces and a variety of other dishes.
Huerto Azul's pear and Merlot jam is delightful lightly heated and used as a sauce for desserts. Spoon it over ice cream or fresh fruit or spread it on crackers or your favorite bread. It's also a nice touch served with cheese and meat platters and other appetizers.
Made by Huerto Azul, or 'Blue Orchard', a small company in Chile that began making their jams and preserves only for family and friends. The name Huerto Azul stems from the crystal blue waters, fresh air and blue sunsets of Southern Chile.
About 10 years ago, they opened an artisan factory and began selling their products to local shops in Villarrica and Pucon, Chile. Still handmade using traditional recipes, Huerto Azul jams and preserves are available in the United States in limited quantities.
