Dulce de batata, or sweet potato jam, is a traditional Argentine, Paraguayan and Uruguayan dessert. Akin to Spanish membrillo, dulce de batata is a firm, sticky yellow paste made with sweet potatoes and flavored with vanilla. It is usually sliced into squares or blocks and served with cheese.
Because of its firm texture, this Latin American treat closely resembles marmalade. Pair it with your favorite cheese, nuts and a glass of wine for a great dessert or appetizer.
