Traditional Gourd Yerba Mate Cup

Yerba mate tea was discovered by the native peoples of South America who enjoyed its stimulating effects. To this day yerba mate is a popular herbal tea across much of South America. This beautiful mate cup is made from a natural gourd capped with a solid metal lip for durability.

To enjoy mate, the tea is steeped in hot water and sipped slowly with a special straw. This black gourd cup is a traditional receptacle for mate. It is handmade and stained black with a vegetable dye. The lip is solid aluminum which protects the edge of the gourd from damage. We also sell a typical yerba mate straw.
