Soft, crumbly membrillo thumbprint cookies are a delicious Argentinian treat to enjoy on their own or with a warm cup of tea or coffee. Baked in Argentina by Delicias de la Nonna, each cookie is filled with a generous dab of membrillo, a sweet preserve made with quince.
Quince is a medieval fruit very similar to apples. Membrillo is made with fresh quince pulp simmered with sugar and water. Traditionally served in Europe and Argentina, membrillo is deep red in color with a rich flavor not commonly found in other fruit preserves.
