Honey has been a staple in Spanish cuisine for well over a thousand years. The Romans used honey in their cuisine, but it was in 711AD that the use of honey became commonplace --the invading Moors brought the tradition of making food with honey from the Middle East. Regular use of sugar came much later when Columbus brought cane sugar from the New World.

This hand-made wooden tray presents examples of the most traditional varieties of honey harvested in Spain. It includes jars of Lavender (Miel Espliego), Thyme (Mile Tomillo), Orange (Miel Naranja), Rosemary (Miel Romero), Heather (Miel Brezo), and Oak Blossom (Miel Encina)flavors.   (more info)
