Aged Sheep's Milk Cheese from Zamora (2 Wedges)

Aged for 14 months, Ilbesa's DM brand aged sheep's milk cheese is a firm textured, full flavored cheese similar to Zamorano. It has a well-defined sheep's milk aroma and an intense taste that is noticeably richer and nuttier than Manchego.

This sheep's milk cheese also has a much creamier, less grainy texture than Manchego. It is wonderful on its own with crackers, olives and a glass of Spanish red wine, but because of its smooth texture, it is a great accompaniment to grilled meats and hamburgers or salads. Sold in small 8.8 ounce wedges, it's a delightful addition to egg dishes or even macaroni and cheese!

For more than 50 years, Ilbesa has produced high quality, award-winning cheeses. Founded in 1938 by Domingo Martín as a small creamery, the company has grown into a company that is recognized in its industry for producing fine, artisan sheep milk cheese.

In recent years, Ilbesa's DM label aged sheep's milk cheese has been presented a number of prestigious awards. At the 2010 World Cheese Awards, it won was awarded a gold medal. The World Cheese Awards are the largest cheese competition in the world and more than 2,500 cheeses were judged in 2010.

In 2008, it was the Premios Cincho gold winner in its category as well as the "Best Cheese of Castilla Léon." Premios Cincho is one of the most important national contests in Spain and cheeses from all over the world vie for this award. In addition to the Premios Cincho awards, this cheese won a 2010 Gold medal and a 2008 Silver medal at the international World Championship Cheese Contest.
