Afuega’l Pitu Atroncau Blanco
10 oz - Rare Creamy Cows Milk Cheese from Asturias

$19.95 / CS-61

OUT OF STOCK - Expected January, 2009
Email me when available

Afuega’l Pitu Atroncau Blanco is an artisanal cheese similar in consistency to a firm cream cheese. Its flavor is creamy, tangy and aromatic. It has become a favorite in our homes.

Age old methods are still used to make this cheese in the rugged mountains of Asturias, in northern-most Spain. Throughout the year dairymen make Afuega’l Pitu Atroncau from raw cow’s milk, without starter or any preservatives. They mix evening and morning milk and let it ripen. Finally, the cheese makers rub the surface of the cheese with sea salt. (more info)

You will find Afuega’l Pitu to be a rare and satisfying treat. Not only is it good on crackers or crusty bread, we creamed some of it with a small amount of plain yogurt and served it as a dip. Our guests emptied our dish before anything else.

The Regulating Council Afuega’l Pita (Denominación de Origen) protects the quality.
