These delicious crunchy cookies are hand dipped, one by one, in rich dark Belgian chocolate for one of the most decadent cookies in Spain! This classic recipe uses all-natural ingredients, from the real butter in the cookies to the pure dark chocolate. These are one of our very favorite sweets from Spain, a perfect partner for a fresh cup of coffee or tea.
Cigarrillos cookies were invented in Tolosa, in the Basque region, by the confectioner Luís María Eceiza. Fresh butter, eggs, sugar and flour are blended and baked, and the hot, soft cookies are rolled by hand into their distinctive shape. When they have cooled they are dipped in deep dark Belgian chocolate, sealing in the crisp cookie center.
Casa Eceiza has not changed their recipe for nearly one hundred years, and why would they need to! We guarantee that this is one of the finest cookies you will ever enjoy.
