  • 50% torrefacto beans
  • Use for an authentic cafe con leche
  • Ground and vacuum packed for freshness
If you visit a café or restaurant in Spain and order coffee, it is very likely you’ll be served torrefacto coffee – a thicker, more flavorful brew than what is usually served here in the United States. Despite being the coffee of choice for many Spaniards, torrefacto coffee is quite hard to find as it rarely imported into the United States. If you’ve been attempting to recreate the delicious café con leche you enjoyed in Spain, your search is over. (more info)

To produce torrefacto coffee, a portion of the whole coffee beans are coated with a fine mist of sugar prior to roasting. These sugar coated beans are blended with natural roast beans and the proportion of torrefacto beans in the mix determines the intensity of the coffee. This ground blend is 50% torrefacto and yields a full-bodied, robust cup of coffee with none of the bitterness you expect in a regular cup of coffee.

Catunambú believes that great coffee is born from a combination of the very best coffee beans available and careful roasting. Catunambú blends 10 different varieties of beans from the very best coffee regions in Latin America and Africa to achieve their unique flavor and aroma. By using the best kinds of coffee in the world, Catunambú’s coffee blend is unsurpassed.

Founded by Juan Ferrer over a hundred years ago, Catunambú is the coffee of Andalusia. Quality is the top priority for this 100% Andalusian company based in Sevilla. For decades Spaniards have enjoyed Catunambú coffee at their cafés throughout Sevilla and now you can enjoy this taste of Andalusia in your own home!

This coffee is vacuum packaged with a patented “Goglio Valve” to guarantee that it reaches the customer at the peak of aroma and flavor. Ground coffee is vacuum packed immediately after roasting to preserve its freshness.

Customer Reviews for 2-Pack - Ground Mixed Torrefacto Coffee by Catunambu

GS  5 Star Rating
"The stovetop expresso maker is key, plus the mix of Torrefacto in this brand is exactly as I got when I lived in Spain. It costs a lot more to get it here in the states, but worth it. If LaTienda ever discontinues selling Torrefacto coffee, I will be in trouble, as I have gotten all my friends hooked on it too!"

CW  5 Star Rating
"Cafe con leche is one of the many reasons I fell in love with Andalucia. When I came back to the states, I vowed to figure out how to make a real cup, and Catunambu is the key. I use a stovetop espresso maker, and the coffee comes out thick, dark, and deliciously complex. Add milk, and you have an authentic cafe con leche. Every time I make some, I take a sip, close my eyes, and pretend I'm sitting at a little cafe on a busy street, enjoying the warm sun and people-watching. Thank you to La Tienda for carrying this brand!"

Jim Ellsworth  4 Star Rating
"I especially like this mixed Torrefacto coffee as oposed to the 100 percent Torrefacto due to its more complex flavor. For me this makes a fine morning cup and I use it for a welcome change from the various beans and blends we get from specialty providers such as Gevalia. I find the coffee has good body but I do not find it to be "thick" and I may never have used it "con leche" since I like to drink it "black." On special ocaissions it does merit a dose of Pedro Jiminez. This product is one that I regularly reorder from La Tienda and I recommend it to you with confidence."
