Bomba & Calasparra Paella Rice The Moors first introduced rice to Spain over 1,000 years ago. Since then rice has become integral to Spanish cuisine, especially in Andalucia and Valencia. Myriad rice dishes have been perfected combining local ingredients and Spain's famous short-grained rice.
Our rice comes from a special area in Murcia around the town of Calasparra. Here the rice grows in cool mountain water made possible by Moorish irrigation. The rice plants grow slowly, forming a grain that is hard and super-absorbent, perfect for paella and other famous rice dishes.
